Marumen in Fairfax VA

I recently made a trip back to the east coast for a friends wedding. This was a great opportunity to explore the ramen opportunities in the DC area. Marumen was on our way back to the airport after the wedding. The first thing I noticed about the place is that it appears that it’s in a building that was previously a Pizza Hut. If you’ve grown up in the states you know what that building looks like. I suggest doing an image search on google for “pizza hut building”. They say a  picture is worth a 1000 words.

I ordered the Godzilla Tsukemen.  I had to eat something with the name “Godzilla”.  Be hold the menu.

Godzilla as it comes out.

I was really impressed with how this came out. The egg looks appropriately boiled, the pork feels really tender, and the bright green scallions on top bring great color to the dish.

The broth matches the name on the menu. It’s dark, rich, and spicy. This conjures up thoughts of “godzilla” in my mind.
