Tsukemen - Rokurinsha. The dipping sauce was wonde Tsukemen - Rokurinsha. The dipping sauce was wonderfully thick and had just a little fish flavor to it. Served with thick noodles. As my tastes have evolved over the years, I’ve really grown to enjoy soup/dipping sauces that have the strong fish flavors. It’s more complex and bitter. An acquired taste for sure. 🍜 I wasn’t planning on eating here since I had some ramen about 45 minutes prior to coming to the airport. I had zero regrets stuffing more noodles in my face. Special Shoyu - Ramen Mizna. Chicken, pork, porci Special Shoyu - Ramen Mizna. Chicken, pork, porcini mushroom, and several blends of soy sauce form the soup base. Topped with pork chashu, seaweed, fresh leafy greens, and porcini mushrooms paste. Medium thick noodles. On the side is extra chashu, egg, and bamboo. Side pastes are chopped ginger/ Spicy yuzu kosho/ Oyasumi oil. This was another amazing bowl in Japan and was perfect for the cold weather. Whole wheat noodles make for easy slurping. The condiments were yuzu kosho, garlic, and lemon ginger. I’ve never had ramen with clam and/or scallops that wasn’t delicious, including this bowl. This is similar to the shio version, but it’s got the soy sauce added and has a strong shrimp flavor to it. As with the shio bowl, it’s best to try and get a little bit off everything in your spoon and slurp from that. 🍜 🍜 This shop is 100% committed to the pineapple and it’s apparent with the vibe of the shop. Nothing but pineapple decorations and you feel like you’ve been transported to a tropical island while still being in Tokyo. Pineapple Ramen - Papapapapine Ramen. This is the Pineapple Ramen - Papapapapine Ramen. This is the shio version. I believe the soup has seafood and kelp base with some pineapple juice added. I added an egg which happens to be a bright yellow and was really tasty. The noodles were thin. I found that to really enjoy this bowl you had to have a little soup, some noodles, and a slice of pineapple topping all at once. 🍜 🍜 🍜 I originally heard about this ramen 6 years ago watching a video that @ramenadventures did on this place. Ever since then it’s been on my bucket list. It sounded strange and interesting all at the same time. So glad I finally got to try this tropical style ramen. Hot and Sour Noodles - Yagu Noodle. As the sign on Hot and Sour Noodles - Yagu Noodle. As the sign on the front implies, this shops specialty is chicken based broth. This particular bowl is similar to a hot and sour soup you’d get in a Chinese establishment, but with a ramen twist. Topped with egg, minced meat, green onion, and fried onion. Delicious slice of chicken under the toppings. Smooth noodles. This bowl wasn’t as spicy as it appears, a bit more on the sour side. It was really tasty. Shio Ramen - Ramen Iida Shoten. This starts with Shio Ramen - Ramen Iida Shoten. This starts with the same clear chicken broth that was present in my shio tsukemen. Thin noodles, 3 pieces of chahsu, bamboo, Japanese scallion (just white part) and finished with yuzu citrus. Obviously, this was equally awesome and felt especially luxurious. 🍜 🍜 🍜 🍜 A tip for getting a reservation is to have everyone in your party register in advance on the Omakase reservation system. Once reservations open for the day you want to visit everyone should try separately to make a reservation for the party. Having everyone in your party make an attempt will greatly improve your chances of getting a spot. My wife and I tried and finally got a reservation about 5 minutes in to trying. All reservations sold out in 8 minutes. Shio Tsukemen - Ramen Iida Shoten. This is served Shio Tsukemen - Ramen Iida Shoten. This is served with two broths. One, is a clear chicken flavored broth. This is best paired with the thick yellow noodles. The second broth is a light shoyu broth that is best paired with the other noodles that are served. The second set of noodles are more akin to soba noodles. 🍜 A side of lime, salts, wasabi, and plum are provided. Some seaweed and three pieces of chashu are also served on the plate with noodles. 🍜 After you’ve consumed some of the noodles they provide you with serving of kelp and bonito oil that you pour over your remaining noodles. Also, they provide you with some extra thin slices of pork that you add to the clear broth. Pull some of the noodles after the kelp/bonito and dip in the clear broth with some of the thin pork. It’s pretty sublime. 🍜 🍜 It’s hard to get a reservation, but luckily I struck gold when attempting as soon as the reservation system opened a week before my visit to the area. I recommend getting their early so you’ll be first in line. This isn’t as spicy as it looks and it’s served with ice cubes in it that keeps the broth very chilled. This great for hot summer days.
